Fall is officially here in Fairbanks—golden leaves are showing up, school is back in session, and somehow we're already in September.
Thanks for spending a few minutes with us today.
Let's get started.

National Library Card Month
Need a library card—or know someone who does? September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! Anyone who signs up for their first library card this month will be entered into a raffle drawing. Plus, if your current card has disappeared somewhere into the abyss, replacement cards are free all month (normally $2).
Haven’t been to the library in a while? September is the perfect excuse to stop in. Grab a card, browse the shelves, check out what’s happening, and see everything your local library has to offer.

Summit Logistics
You may know Summit Logistics for Conex containers, but there's a lot more happening inside their Fairbanks shop.
Led by General Manager Nathan Abraham, Operations Manager Jenni Richmond, Accountant Ashley Wolstenholme, Foreman Jon Swope, and a skilled team of carpenters, welders, electricians, plumbers, fabricators, and more, Summit Logistics creates custom solutions built for life and work in Alaska.

The company sells new and used 20- and 40-foot Conex containers for everything from household storage and farm equipment to UTVs and motorcycles. And when a standard container isn't enough, their team can customize it with insulation, electrical, plumbing, divided rooms, and more—turning it into anything from a garage to a fully customized workspace.
Summit Logistics also builds larger skidded units from the ground up in their Fairbanks shop. These custom buildings help bring the comforts and necessities of home and work to some of Alaska's more remote locations. Their rental fleet serves businesses across the state with options ranging from heated, self-contained lavatories for construction sites to employee housing and safety buildings.
The company originally began as a transportation-focused logistics business with a strong presence in Anchorage. After expanding to Fairbanks, the team quickly realized that Interior Alaska had its own unique needs. Listening to local customers eventually led Summit Logistics into custom manufacturing and opened the door to an entirely new side of the business.

One project they're especially proud of is a 48-by-60-foot office complex built for a local company. It was a challenging project that gave the entire team an opportunity to work together, solve problems, and learn along the way. For Summit Logistics, seeing customers happy with the finished product—and seeing how much care employees put into every step, from the first phone call through final delivery—is one of the best parts of the job.
They're also proud to support the community outside the shop, including sponsorships connected to the Yukon Quest and Ice Alaska. The team loves doing business in Fairbanks because it's a community where relationships and reputation matter, customers come back, and local businesses have the opportunity to grow alongside the people they serve.

Fairbanks is full of interesting people, opinions, and stories. Each week, we'll ask a quick question just for fun and share some responses in the next edition.
Question: What's your go-to comfort food when the weather starts getting colder?
Last week we asked “What's the best piece of advice you'd give someone before their first Fairbanks winter?”
The overwhelming advice this week: get outside and stay busy! Readers recommended walking, skiing, stargazing, socializing, board games, and making plans with friends and family—anything that gives you something to look forward to during the darker months. Other winter essentials included autostart, heated seats, warm gear (with a specific vote for mukluks, a down-filled coat, and fur-lined mittens), vitamin D, and a happy light.
Barbara reminded us not to let the limited daylight scare us—there's plenty to see and do in Fairbanks all year long, and winter brings some pretty great celebrations of its own, including Winter Solstice and New Year's fireworks that we can actually see since it’s dark!
