Community Notes
Chena Tool Library
If you've ever needed a specialty tool for a one-time project, the Chena Tool Library is a resource worth knowing about. Think of it like a library—but instead of checking out books, you borrow tools for your next DIY project.
Members can browse the online inventory, reserve tools, and pick them up during open hours at the library's new location on Front Street. Whether you're tackling a home repair, landscaping project, auto repair, or another hands-on task, borrowing can save both money and storage space.
Membership is open to anyone, with donations encouraged to help keep the nonprofit community resource running and accessible. It's a practical example of neighbors sharing resources to help one another get projects done.
Learn more, browse the tool inventory, or become a member at chenatoollibrary.org.

Meet Your Neighbors
Devin Carlin, Northline Laserworks
What started as a curiosity about laser engraving has quickly grown into a local business creating custom pieces that are as practical as they are personal. Inspired by a lifelong love of art and design, Devin Carlin--the owner of Northline Laserworks--decided to invest in a laser engraver, learn the craft, and turn a creative passion into a business.

Northline Laserworks specializes in custom laser engraving on a wide variety of materials, including metal, wood, leather, stone, acrylic, glass, and many plastics. They create everything from personalized knives, wallets, tumblers, and hats to metal business cards, metal tags for industrial use, office signage, automotive identification, and medical identification products.
Some of Devin's favorite projects have included creating custom knives and engraving a large order of stainless steel tumblers for Lat 65 Brewing—projects that combined creativity with craftsmanship.
For Devin, one of the most rewarding parts of the business isn't the engraving itself—it's seeing a customer's reaction when they receive a custom piece made just for them. Bringing someone's idea to life and seeing the joy it creates is what keeps him excited about every new project.

Whether you're looking for a unique gift, custom business products, or just something fun for yourself—Northline Laserworks offers a wide range of personalized solutions made right here in Fairbanks.

Your Turn
Fairbanks is full of interesting people, opinions, and stories. Each week, we'll ask a quick question just for fun and share some responses in the next edition.
Question: The Tanana Valley State Fair starts this week! What's the one thing you're looking forward to most?
Last week we asked “What’s your go to stop for ice cream here in Fairbanks (or nearby)?”
Lexi loves Hot Licks! We had another response letting us know that their top pick is Sunrise simply because their soft serve machine is consistently working—good to know if you love soft serve!
That’s it for this week.
FYI Fairbanks is built by community members, for community members.
Have an event to share? Know a business we should meet? Interested in advertising? Have an idea for a future edition? Just hit reply, we’d love to hear from you.
